Living Our History

COSATU’s Industrial Strategy Policy Document, released yesterday, will be one of the major items before the federation's 9th Congress to be held at Gallagher Estate from 18th to 21st September 2006. A must for Communist University students and all partisans of the South African working class. The first link below is to a page from which the full document can be downloaded. Journalists have been given a lot of creative licence when dealing with COSATU. One example is the selective and at times downright deceptive presentation of COSATU’s worker survey. COSATU points out some of the discrepancies in the second linked document. The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) is going to have a day of action around the country on 13th September. See the third linked document for details. Karima Brown has written a very nice article about the re-naming of O. R. Tambo airport (Johannesburg). In it, among other things, she pays some tribute to the extraordinary worldwide network of ANC Offices and Chief Representatives that Comrade O. R. led, and which was unprecedented and unique to the ANC. There is hardly any honouring of this extraordinary achievement, these days. See the linked article below. Yesterday was the 43rd anniversary of the torture and death in detention of Solwandle Looksmart Ngudle. May he rest in peace. In Gaza there is no peace, only systematic genocide. Professor Ilan Pappe, an Israeli, describes the horror. See the final linked document below.
