No Holds Barred

From Zimbabwe’s Financial Gazette here (linked) is a great piece of writing about Swaziland by Gondo Gushongo. Equally hard-hitting is the linked piece from Counterpunch by a US Vietnam war veteran, Tony Swindell, addressed to the US people, warning them of what is really happening in Iraq. Meanwhile in the Iraqi city of Basra a popular uprising has broken out against the British occupiers. Comrade Floyd Shivambu is Political Education Officer of the Wits University YCL Branch. He has marked his well-written (linked) piece: “Second Draft for closed discussion: not for quoting or reference.” Therefore send comments on his article direct to him at floydn@gmail.com . The Communist University is proud to carry new and experimental writing. While searching for a letter to the Cape Times by Ben and Mary Turok, the CU came across the linked article by Tony Holiday on Jacob Zuma, dated May 16th, 2005, nearly one year ago, and 6 months before the rape allegation. It can serve to remind us how deep-seated is the campaign against Jacob Zuma, how long it has been running, and what its real nature is. Tony Holiday is not a backwoodsman. He is struggle veteran and an ex-prisoner and cousin to the late, great Marius Schoon. He alleges that there is a virtual secret treaty binding South Africa to the World Bank, IMF and WTO and excluding certain kinds of people in a way that borders on racism. This Quisling allegation is grossly untrue and unacceptable, and even treasonous. But it is highly revealing concerning the anti-Zuma campaign, which is much more than just anti-Zuma. It is really a pro-Imperialist campaign, involving old-regime elements of the de Klerk persuasion, the Tony Leons and Douglas Gibsons of this world, and sad people like Tony Holiday and the Turoks. Not to mention the large and medium bourgeoisie, plus all sorts of partly-visible spies and creepy-crawlies. If anybody can forward the Turoks’ Cape Times letter backing Raymond Suttner, the CU would be grateful. It is there, but unlike the Holiday manifesto, it is only available on the Internet to subscribers. Send to dominic.tweedie@gmail.com . It is a good time to re-read at least the first part of SACP Deputy GS Jeremy Cronin’s “The People Shall Govern” (linked), and if possible, other documents leading up to the present moment, from the Freedom Charter, through the Road to SA Freedom, original Strategy and Tactics, the Green Book, and the SA Working Class and the NDR. All these documents (cited verbally by Cde. Cronin as precursors to his analysis) can be found here. Pay attention for announcements this week, and note Brendan Boyle’s article in today’s Sunday Times, which will be featured here tomorrow. Click on these links: Swaziland, No Holds Barred, Mswati Heresy, Gondo Gushongo (1232 words) US Descent Into Hell Has Begun, Tony Swindell, Counterpunch (2475 words) Defying the defiance campaign, YCL and ASGISA, Floyd Shivambu (4072 words) Block Zuma for politico-economic stability, Tony Holiday, Cape Times (1092 words) Cronin, The People Shall Govern, Transformation & State (13, 435 words)
